Planning your Blessing Ceremony

Most couples book their Celebrant / Officiant a year ahead but last minute requests are on the increase. Many choose and book their Villa or Hotel first and then later attempt to find a Celebrant at the last minute. While we do everything we can to accommodate such requests we cannot always guarantee our availability. Many dates and certain months (especially May – September) are extremely popular and requested. We recommend that you contact us as early as you can in order to avoid disappointment. Celebrancy is a relatively new concept in Italy and it is not always easy to find reputable individuals who will guarantee a quality service.

Our Personal Promise

During our correspondence with you we aim to answer all emails within 48 hours. The only time this may differ slightly is during periods in which we travel to perform. It would help us to help you if you could send us all information required as soon as possible. This way we are able to avoid any last minute panic and to ensure that your ceremony receives the close attention it deserves.

Many people assume the job of a Celebrant/Officiant is an easy one and that he/she merely reads a standard script on the day. This is far from true… We liaise with you until you are happy with the finished script and ideas. Sometimes this process takes weeks and sometimes months. Often we feel we know the couple quite well by the time the day arrives!

We endeavour to provide the best service possible and to make sure we are always presentable and professional. We make sure we arrive in time to talk to the musicians and view the set up before the start of the ceremony. We travel extensively to perform from our base in Tuscany to the north and south of Italy. In spite of a heavy schedule, travelling long distances, coping with logistical problems such as inhospitable parking (and sometimes people!) we pride ourselves on performing each ceremony with eloquence and feeling. Your happiness is our job satisfaction!

Research your location mindful of how easy it would be to transport your guests. Many venues, especially farm holidays (agriturismi) look wonderfully peaceful and green but often the roads are almost impassable. We have at times encountered lost and disgruntled guests attempting to find locations that would need a strong 4 x 4 and so well hidden that even a navigator doesn’t help! We can suggest possible locations if you are having trouble finding somewhere.

Many couples prefer to try and organize flowers, food and music themselves. This is fine if you have time and patience but do seriously consider hiring the services of a reputable wedding planner. Having said that, there are many operating in Italy and it is not easy to sort the wheat from the chaff… We have years of experience in liaising with all kinds of planners and would be happy to direct you towards a professional who operates in the area of Italy that you have chosen to have your ceremony.

Italians prefer their ceremonies to start at 6 or 7 pm. There is a very good reason for this, as apart from the fact that on the continent eating occurs later in the summer,Italian Brides would never stand with melting make-up under the potent mid-afternoon sun! Imagine how uncomfortable and dangerous it is too for your much valued guests to be suffering in the heat. Global warming has made it very difficult to be sure of the weather. April, May, September and October are often very good choices if you want to avoid sunburn as the heat is less strong and the weather a little more stable (but don’t hold us to it!) Italians realise that storms and lightening are very likely when very hot between the hours of 2pm and 5pm. Having your ceremony at around 6 pm is perfect as your guests can enjoy a refreshing apperitive before dinner at 8 pm.

Ask for references. A good wedding planner will be able to provide you with references which you can check out yourself. This is also why we ask all couples to read the testimonials on our site. They are all genuine and we can ask for couples to verify what they have written if required. Websites such as www.tripadvisor.com are a good source for providing reassurance regarding locations in particular.
